Five Days of Cricket

Before starting play, they must roll out the wicket.
And so it begins, the great game of cricket.

Tossing a shilling marks the start of day one.
Oh the next fives days will be bundles of fun.

There’s thunder and lightening after tea on day two.
The players head for cover, and so should you.

Big crowds strolling in now, it’s surely day three.
The sun shining bright, school kids get in free.

Might this be a thriller, it’s only day four.
Too early to tell by looking at the score.

Hold steady your heartbeats, it’s finally day five.
On this special day cricket truly comes alive.
